Every year Wood Green, The Animals Charity finds secure, loving new homes for around 5,500 animals. As well as rehoming cats and dogs, they rehome many other animals including rabbits, mice, guinea pigs, chickens and goats.
Their vision is of a world where all pets are well cared for in loving homes for life.
They aim to achieve this vision by providing the best possible care for animals in need, promoting good animal welfare and responsible pet ownership by providing support, guidance and education to members of the public and setting standards of animal welfare in the UK and beyond.
Last year their skilled team of veterinary surgeons and nurses carried out over 22,000 medical checks and hundreds of major operations, including 2,000 neutering procedures. Many of the animals cared for needed urgent medical treatment. In fact, more than 600 remedial surgical procedures took place from fracture repairs to exploratory procedures for tumours and foreign bodies.
The Education Team are passionate about teaching the next generation responsible pet ownership across the surrounding counties of Wood Green in a bid to make the pets of tomorrow happier and healthier.
The Outreach Team also work tirelessly in the community offering advice, support and low-cost veterinary services to people who are struggling to care for their pets.
Wood Green receives no government or lottery funding. Therefore they rely entirely on the generosity of their supporters to help keep their doors open 365 days a year.
